Our Staff

During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s significant changes were happening in South Africa as the Apartheid legislation was dismantled. Colleen was significantly impacted by the need to address the inequalities of access to education and co-founded Safe and Sound Learning Association.

Colleen is passionate about

LUCINDA KHUMALO

Lucinda Azevedo trained with Safe and Sound Learning Association and achieved her National Certificate in Early Childhood Development Level 4 and her Level 5 Assessor qualifications in 2009. She has also completed courses on establishing and running toy libraries (with ALL-SA) and the START programme (with Sunshine Centre organisation). She is involved in planning and delivering training in Safe and Sound .

Her passion in ECD covers many aspects but primarily, the proper early stimulation of young children. Since she became involved in the ECD sector, she has been aware of how destructive it can become when children do not get exposed to the proper stimulation at the right time and age. She believes in the holistic development of children in a play-based environment.

Lucinda has completed her Diploma in Grade R teaching (NQF Level 6) and the Train the Trainer qualification.
